Honey You’re a Natural Beauty All-natural honey has been used as a beauty product since the days of Cleopatra, and it continues to be used today in manufactured and homemade products for skin and hair care. Honey is a natural humectant, which means it has the ability to attract and retain moisture. The skin's ability to stay moist helps maintain its softness, suppleness and elasticity. As skin ages, it loses some of the ability to retain water and may become dry an appear wrinkled. Honey's natural hydrating properties make it an ideal ingredient for moisturizing products. Because it is all natural and doesn't irritate the skin, honey is also great for sensitive skin. You don't have to go far from your home to experience great beauty products at an inexpensive price. Simply reach in to your cabinet and pull out the honey! Using honey and other common ingredients, you can make your own line of right in your kitchen! Honey is a natural way to care for your skin and hair. Try these home recipes to save the money you spend on expensive beauty products. Hair Conditioner Mix 1/2 cup Pure Honey with 1/4 cup olive oil. Use 2 tablespoons for normal to oily hair. Using a small amount at a time, work mixture through hair until coated. Cover hair with a shower cap and leave on 30 minutes. Shampoo well and rinse; dry as usual. Soothing Skin Clarifier (for minor acne) Mix 1/2 cup warm water with 1/4 teaspoon salt. Using a cotton ball apply directly to blemishes. Maintain pressure with cotton ball for several minutes to soften blemishes. Using a cotton swab, dab Pure Honey on blemishes. Leave on 10 minutes; rinse and pat dry. Skin Softening Bath Add 1/4 cup Pure Honey to bath water for fragrant "soaky" bath. Facial Mask Whisk 1 tablespoon Pure Honey, 1 egg white, 1 teaspoon glycerin (available at drug and beauty stores), and enough flour to form a paste. Smooth over face and throat. Leave on 10 minutes; wash off with warm water. Facial Mask/Toner In a blender, puree 1 tablespoon Pure Honey with 1 peeled, cored apple. Smooth over face. Leave on 15 minutes; rinse with cold water. Honey is a strong anti-inflammatory agent that prevents infections and reduces the existing ones when applied on problem or sensitive skin type. When it comes to skin care, especially facial care, benefits of honey are multiple. It also has antibacterial properties if used for preparation of body scrub recipes that cleanse the body and leave it bacteria free. |
